Every business starts with a simple idea

Wotif founder, Graeme Wood, said that Wotif started with a simple idea at a time of when the Internet entrepreneurs started out. The idea was simple – create an online marketplace for hotel rooms. This idea came from a conversation with a hotel owner who was prepared to be flexible with pricing. In 90’s, hotel pricing was quiet standard and didn’t fluctuate in a day-to-day or hour-to-hour rate like today. Graeme seized the opportunity of going beyond one hotel owner – if one was prepared to be flexible, surely there is an idea for an online marketplace involving many hotel owners. It took Graeme Wood 3 to 4 months to come up with a good business model despite the lack of start-up capital in terms of launching.
