Pip Jamieson – Co-founder, The Loop

About

From economist to media player to entrepreneur, Pip Jamieson’s career has never been dull. After graduating Edinburgh University in 2002 with a first class (high distinction equivalent) masters degree in Economics, Pip was recruited as a fast stream civil servant for the British government. Disillusioned with politics she pursued her dream of working in the media industry. First for the BPI working on the 2004 BRIT Awards (the UK equivalent of the ARIA Awards), then as Strategy & Development Manager for MTV Networks Australia, where she planned and spearheaded the team that launched two new local channels in New Zealand, MTV and Nickelodeon.
In 2006 Pip took the reins as Head of Marketing for MTV Networks New Zealand. During her tenure she won A Silver ANZ PROMAX for Best Innovative Idea for the MTV Mile High Gig and built key strategic media partnerships with Kiwi media giants including SKY, The Radio Networks, BNet, ACP, The Herald, TV3, and Air New Zealand.

In 2008 she quit her dream job at MTV to co-found The Loop (www.theloop.com.au), with her great friend and long time colleague Matt Fayle. In seventeen short months, the creative industry networking site they founded with their joint savings, has exploded. Brands including Google, ABC, Pacific Magazines, Discovery Networks, Frost* and SBS have joined the network to headhunt talent. Picking up ‘Best Enterprise’ at this years AIMIA Awards, and boasting a membership of nearly 20,000 the site is on-course to revolutionise how creative practitioners and companies promote themselves, collaborate, network and hire.

Pip will share her experiences as a ‘disruptive entrepreneur’ and her journey in what is takes to bring a creative idea to reality.
