Creative3 Pitch

The Creative3 Pitch is Australia’s only event dedicated to connecting creative industries ventures with investors. Recognising the need for creative businesses to understand the angel investment community and what they are seeking, this event focuses on building capacity of startup founders in the creative industries and increasing the number of investor-ready businesses in Australia.

Four creative startups from across Australia will pitch to early stage investors at this exclusive breakfast event on 22 September 2017. The CreativePitch receives entries from creative tech startups right across Australia. For the past three years, the CEA Startup Fund has gone on to invest in one of the finalist companies, presenting a potentially life-changing opportunity for the finalists.

THE PITCH PROCESS

The Creative3 Pitch aims to build the capacity of startup founders in the creative industries and increase the number of investor-ready businesses in Australia.

The pre-event program includes workshops and coaching by QUT Creative Enterprise Australia to ensure each business is ready to pitch to investors

All four finalists have the opportunity to qualify for the Creative Business Cup in Denmark.

To qualify, businesses must submit a 90-second pitch video to the judges. We encourage applications from startups that have been incorporated for less than five years and can demonstrate evidence of growth potential.

Evolution of the Creative3 Pitch

From 2010 to 2016

QUT Creative Enterprise Australia (CEA) has been committed since 2010 to connect creatives with investors. Given the limited knowledge around creative tech investment opportunities, CEA created a Creative3 Investment Marketplace to encourage creative ventures to pitch their business for a prize of $25k cash and $75k support services customised to growing companies.

This operated successfully for three years before the launch of the CEA Startup Fund which invests up to $150k. The focus evolved from a “competition” to supporting more companies to connect with the Australian investor community and leveraging CEA’s own Startup Fund as a potential co-investment source. In 2013, CEA partnered with River City Labs to co-produce a joint Creative3 RiverPitch.

Over the last two years, CEA has operated a Creative3 Pitch event with finalists including Bluethumb and Handkrafted, participating and then securing capital investment.
